NIAMH MURRAY
PhD Student Niamh graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2004 and subsequently started her postgraduate degree in October 2004 under the joint supervision of Prof. T. Gunnlaugsson (TCD) and Prof. S. Jarvis. Her project involves the development of novel sensory systems and arrays for the selective detection of ions and molecules (guests). This will involve immobilising lanthanide-based chemosensors (hosts) onto molecular defined surfaces and extending this to Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) probe tips using self-assembly monolayer (SAM) methodologies. Publications: Thorfinnur Gunnlaugsson, Joseph P. Leonard, and Niamh S. Murray, "Highly Selective Colorimetric Naked-Eye Cu(II) Detection Using an Azobenzene Chemosensor", Org. Lett., 2004; 6(10) pp 1557 - 1560
